The answer is a definite--YES! But this hope will not be found with any political candidate, vaccine, or financial security. The hope that God wants to give you is that hope that brings to you inner peace, comfort, joy, and life fulfillment (John14:27, 16:7; 1 John 1:4; John 10:10).

This God given hope is found only when you RECEIVE a part of God, his Holy Spirit,to live within you. His Spirit will then join with your human spirit to give the ability to totally transform your human nature so that you begin to think, feel, and behave as God would (Galatians 5:19-25). This is what is called being “born again,”and like a child born into this physical world, God’s Spirit brings you into God’s eternal kingdom; you then become a new creature called the children of God (2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 John 3:1; Romans 8:16).

HOW DO YOU BECOME BORN AGAIN?

First, you need to ACKNOWLEDGE that you do things that does not please God; this is called sin. Psalm 14:2-3 lets us know that there has never been a person born who has not sinned. That’s because we all are born into sin and to sin is part of our human nature. Once you acknowedge that you are a sinner, you then need to REPENT.This means that you stop what is not pleasing to God and do what is pleasing to him.Sin keeps you from being “born again” and receiving God’s Spirit. God’s Spirit gives you the ability to no longer let your sinful human nature dominate your thinking, your emotions, your words, or your behavior.

Second, you need to understand that JESUS IS THE ONLY ONE who can give to you God’s Spirit (John 14:16; 15:26; 16:7). That’s why I encourage you to get to know who Jesus is and what he has done by reading the Bible books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John; these books record what Jesus taught and did.

When you BELIEVE who Jesus is, you will also understand that he wants to give to you God’s Spirit to live in you. It is this Spirit that transforms you and gives to you eternal life. As you read the Bible, you will find that most people received God’s Spirit after they were baptized. It is the Holy Spirit that gives to you peace, joy, comfort, fulfillment of life, and the hope of eternal life. These cannot be found anywhere else except through God’s Spirit.

With all the uncertainties we face in today’s world, I encouarage you to take that first step to being “born again” and find real hope-for-today through Jesus Christ.
